Computers in the Library
Overview
The Library has one of the largest selections of computers on campus for use by all SF State students, faculty and staff. There are also a number of computers available for use by the general public.
Laptop Checkout
Laptops can be checked out by SF State students, faculty and staff with a valid OneCard / SF State ID to search electronic resources, use the Library Catalog, write papers and for other academically related work. Laptop Checkout Program.
Computer Labs
All SF State students, staff, and faculty with a valid OneCard/SF State ID can use the Library computer labs. Computer Labs.
Workstation Sign-On System
The Library Workstation Sign-On system allows users to access Research, Express and Guest workstations located throughout the Library by signing on with a valid ID number. The system monitors the length of time available for each user, thus ensuring equitable access to computers in the Library. While these Library computers are primarily for students, faculty, staff and SF State affiliates, a limited number of computers are available for anyone to use. Workstation Sign-On System.
Internet Only Computers
Internet only computers can be used by members of the general public, SF State students, faculty and staff. Their primary use is for searching Library electronic resources and the online catalog, but they can also be used to access non-library web sites. Internet Only Computers.
Library Online Catalog Computers
Anyone visiting the Library can use the InvestiGator computers to access the Library online catalog. These computers cannot be used for other purposes. Library Online Computers.
Printing in the Library
Printing is widely available. Black and white printing in the Library costs seven cents (7¢) a page, color printing cost varies. Large format and poster printing are also available. Printing.
Wireless Network
Wireless Internet access is available in most parts of the Library. Coverage is generally good in the study areas (wherever there are tables and chairs) and poor in the stack areas, where books are shelved. Wireless Network.
Computer Help & Training
Basic computer help is available in the computer labs. The Library also has a large number of books and other resources which can help you learn more about computers, software, the internet and other related topics.
