Computer Help & Training

Getting Computer Help

Lab staff can assist you with basic computer questions while you’re working in Library computer labs.

Help Using Library Electronic Resources

If you're having trouble using a Library electronic resource, contact a Reference Librarian:

  • In person at the Research Assistance Desk (1st floor)
  • By Email: libref@sfsu.edu
  • By Phone: 415-338-1974

Help from the Library Collection

The Library has a large number of books and other resources which can help you learn more about computers, software, the internet and other related topics. Two good resources to check are:

  • The Online Library Catalog
Search for keywords you’re interested in (php, MySQL, HTML)
  • Safari Tech Books Online
Electronic full-text access to hundreds of books from a variety of publishers, including O'Reilly, Macromedia, Microsoft Press, SAMS, New Riders and others.

Training

The best campus resource for computer-related training is the Division of Information Technology. Every semester DoIT Training offers numerous short courses that are open to SF State students, faculty and staff.

Faculty can also take computer-related workshops offered by Academic Technology.
