Holds, Recalls, Searches
Holds
If an item you are looking for in the Library Catalog has the status of either “checked out” or “missing”, you can place a hold on it by clicking the Request Hold button. You will be notified by e-mail or mail when the book is available to be checked out.
To check the status of hold requests, log in to Your Library Account.
Rather than placing a hold on a book, you can also request a copy using the LINK+ search. LINK+ can usually deliver the book to the Book Check Out counter on the 1st Floor of the Library in 3 to 4 days. Loan periods for books from other libraries vary; please note the due date when you check them out.
For more information, contact the Circulation Services Department.
Recalls
In some cases placing a hold on book may result in it being recalled before the due date indicated in the Library Catalog. This is a result of the faculty borrowing rules. Faculty may borrow circulating books for one semester. If, after the initial four week borrowing period, you request that book, it must be returned within seven working days after notification from the Library.
For more information, contact the Circulation Services Department.
Searches
If a book you are looking for in the Main Collection has the status of “Available” in the Library Catalog, but is not on the shelf, then you may fill out a Search Request at the Book Check Out counter on the 1st Floor of the Library. Library staff will try to locate the book and you will be notified when it is located or if it could not be located after multiple searches. Once a search is initiated, you may request that book through Link+ or other Document Delivery Services.
For more information, contact the Circulation Services Department.
