Faculty and Staff in the Library are able to help you in doing research and using library resources and services. See Research Assistance for more information.
For other kinds of assistance, people in the Library may refer you to others on campus who can help you.
Study Skills & Test Preparation
You can develop academic skills by working regularly with a tutor from the Learning Assistance Center (LAC). See Study & Test Taking Skills. The Testing Center can help you prepare for campus, state and national standardized tests.
Writing Assistance
There are several places on campus to get help with the many essays and papers you have to write in college, not only in your composition courses but also for assignments across the disciplines. See the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) guide to writing assistance
Tutoring
The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) supports students in becoming independent and successful learners by providing skills-based tutoring and academic support referrals. See Getting a Tutor at SF State.
Software Training
For help with word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistics, web development and more, DoIT Training, located in Administration (ADM) 103, offers computer-related short courses and workshops to all SF State students, staff, and faculty throughout the year. Each short course is one to two hours in length and there is no need to register for classes since they are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hardware Assistance
If you are having trouble using your personal laptop or other computer equipment, you can call, visit or E-mail the Help Desk, located in Administration (ADM) 110
One Stop Student Services Center
Many other questions about general education, registration, financial aid, OneCards, graduation, etc., can be answered at the One Stop Student Services Center, in the lobby of Student Services Building (SSB).
