A Poem of La Raza

Por Epifanio Camacho (English)

I'm going to tell you now about the fight of the huelguistas.
I'm going to tell the truth to you and to all the capitalists.

It's the cry of the poor - We work in the fields
And water the land with our sweat.

For long enough we've stood the slavery of being sold.
And now at last we can see our triumph.

The greedy ranchers like a bunch of dictators
Never listen to the pleas of the poor.

We work and work in the fields, Trying and fighting so hard.
And when we're finally through, There's never any money.

Our homes are always full of sorrow.
We are forced to live like animals in the midst of wealth.

In contrast, these ranchers, Owners of land and life
Are deaf to our problems.

But finally out of all this oppression, One man rose in Delano.
He fights for the cause of a desperate people.

He raised the cry of rebellion, Justice and... Viva la Huelga!
He's never been a traitor to us. He's been faithful to the cause.
