6.5 Disabled: Building Access Between RBR and 1st Floor Main Library
I. Identification
- Any person with an obvious disability (wheelchair, difficulty in walking, etc.) may request elevator access to or from the Reserve Book Room on the ground floor. Requests should be referred to either the Loan Desk or the Reserve Book Room service desk.
- Disabled faculty members and registered disabled students who need this service on a regular basis are required to have their ID cards adapted for access to the Maurice K. Schiffman Room for Print Handicapped. (Refer to "Eligibility" section, 4.2, pg. 3)
II. Procedure
- Access from the first floor to the ground floor via the "south" elevators.
- During the regular work week (M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm): Loan Desk attendant escorts disabled person to reading area of the Reserve Book Room
- Evening and weekend hours: Loan Desk attendant telephones Reserve Book Room and then escorts disabled person to ground floor. Reserve Book Room attendant meets elevator and escorts disabled person to reading area.
- Access from ground floor to first floor of Main Library: Reserve Book Room attendant escorts disabled person to the first floor at all times.
