The San Francisco State College Strike Collection

Newspaper Articles

For general reporting on the strike, the New York Times and the New York Times Index are extremely valuable. The San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner also devoted much coverage to the strike.

I was able to clip the San Francisco Chronicle daily, and received gifts of clippings from other newspapers. These clippings were arranged chronologically (as nearly as possible) in a large scrapbook. Archives / Special Collections staff created four additional scrapbooks.

The following campus newspapers give important information concerning the strike:

  • San Francisco State College Daily Gater, May, 1967-June, 1969
  • San Francisco State College Open Process, May, 1968-June, 1969
  • San Francisco State College Phoenix, May, 1968-June, 1969

The campus newspapers and scrapbooks are available on microfilm in Periodicals / Microforms. Original copies are housed in Archives / Special Collections.
